Polarization Splitter-Rotator Based on Multimode Waveguide Grating

We demonstrate a polarization splitter rotator (PSR) based on multimode waveguide grating (MWG) silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform. Bloch mode hybridization in mini-stopband is exploited to achieve high conversion efficiency. The fabricated device yields extinction ratio of > 53 dB and 31 dB, low crosstalk < −26.4 −40 for the injected TE0 TM0 mode, with average insertion loss 1.2 1.5 wavelength regime 1552 nm–1562 nm. Such shows great design flexibility an easy fabrication process, serving as good candidate integrated diversity circuits, especially applications requiring spectra manipulation. Additionally, approach provides opportunities develop novel management devices.
